Understanding Civil Site Design's Road and Profile Strings
Civil Site Design uses the term "String" to define the vertical control of an alignment.
Road strings have a template assigned and interact with other road strings allowing the automatic formation of curb returns.
Profile strings have a vertical design but do not interact with other strings. They are typically used for target mapping. An example would be a property boundary. A profile string can be draped on the surface and then used to control the grading.
This play list has 9 videos that explain these strings and how they are used in detail. Total play time is 30 minutes.
